Why PADI Underwater Naturalist? If you're interested in aquatic life (as most scuba divers:-), then the PADI Underwater Naturalist Specialty diver course is for you. This course is an introduction to the underwater aquatic environment and will help develop safe and responsible aquatic life interaction techniques. See how the marine world interacts with a coral or wreck environment such as the Hardeep shipwreck in Pattaya, Thailand. What do I need to start?
What will I do? During your PADI Underwater Naturalist Specialty Diver course, you'll learn underwater naturalist dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and potential problems. You'll also get an overview of the major aquatic life groupings, interactions and factual information that dispels negative myths. You'll put this information into practice during your two open water dives. The course might be short but it gives a solid foundation of knowledge that can be built upon on subsequent dives. How long will it take?
Where can I go from here? Your Adventures In Diving Underwater Naturalist Adventure Dive may count towards your Underwater Naturalist Specialty course at dive instructor discretion. This Specialty course also counts toward one of the five required Specialties for the Master Scuba Diver rating. For PADI scuba diver instructors: Mermaids have witnessed that the diving industry prefers to take scuba instructors on for dive employment from the MSDT level and higher. Although it is possible to achieve dive jobs directly from an IDC (Instructor Development Course), dive shop employers are more likely to offer a dive job to a professional diver that has more experience. The MSDT scuba diving rating displays that the dive instructor has good experience teaching diving. The MSDT internship with PADI specialty diver courses can assist in your scuba diving career. |
