PADI Underwater Photography Specialty
Diver Course
As a diver, you desperately want to share your
dive experiences with others. There problems is,
words alone are not enough. Trying to describe the first shark or your
experience with a Manta Ray just does not do the experience justice. To this day
no one believes me about the size of the Moray that I saw on Elephant Head rock
in the Similan islands, Thailand! This really was not the 'one that got away'
but I cannot convince any one! You must have pictures. This is why, sooner or
later, every serious diver learns to take underwater photographs — and why the
PADI Underwater Photo Diver course is the best way to discover
how. The specialty course includes:
|
- Comprehensive self-study materials which make it easy for
you to master all of the necessary background knowledge before class. |
|
- Hands-on practice with cameras in the classroom, pool (or
like conditions) and open water. |
|
- The opportunity to expose a number of rolls of film,
including two full rolls in open water. |
|
- Feedback from an experienced underwater photo professional
so that each roll you shoot is progressively better. |
|
- An introduction to underwater digital photography. |
Believe me there is a lot to learn and consider with under water photography
such as diver buoyancy, checking of gauges, bubbles, movement, current etc...

For PADI Dive Instructors: Mermaids have witnessed that the dive industry
prefers to take dive instructors on for dive employment from the MSDT level and
higher. Although it is possible to achieve dive jobs directly from an IDC
(Instructor Development Course), dive employers are more likely to offer a dive
position to a diver that has more experience. The MSDT scuba diving rating
displays that the dive instructor has good experience teaching diving. The MSDT
internship with PADI specialty diver courses can assist in your scuba dive career.
